A quick comparison: Generation X (born 1965-1975), raised by Silent and Greatest Generation parents, last generation of children to be spanked for misbehavior. Hard-working, industrious, cautious, conservative, somewhat pious.

And then we have Generation Y (born 1976-1990), raised by Baby Boomers, who generally loathed spanking and indulged their children’s every whim. Lazy, entitled, imperious, self-absorbed, can’t spell, won’t read, cannot think critically, obsessed with instant gratification, pleasure and entertainment.

Do the math. Spanking works. My parents spanked the hell out of me, and at 40, looking back, I’m glad they did.

I was spanked regularly as a child with either belts or switches and I’m well-adjusted, non-violent, and glad my parents did it. My spankings were never a result of my parents’ anger.

After I did something to merit a spanking, my father would send me outside to pick out a switch. I now understand he did that so he could have a minute to calm himself down before he spanked me. Also, he always made sure I knew why I was being punished and comforted me after he did it.

I’m grateful my parents spanked me.

TWO members of a London teenage girl gang have been jailed for stripping a rival naked in the street and whipping her with their belts. The 16 year-old victim was photographed by the ‘Girls over Men’ group as she was humiliated in broad daylight in Stratford, east London. She had been abducted at knifepoint as she walked with a friend after allegedly “disrespecting” the gang leader’s mother.

Judge William Kennedy, who sentenced the pair for a total of seven-and-a-half years, described the attack on 12 October last year as “ferocious, deliberate and chilling”… He added: “She offered neither provocation nor much resistance, you degraded her by the forced removal of her clothes, the assault was with belts, which came to hand at the scene.”

The sadistic teen was overheard by a member of staff telling girls at the Oakhill secure training centre in Milton Keynes she wished the gang could have got a man to rape their victim. “She said that photos had been taken and if she could have got one of her boys down, she would have made her have sex,” said Mr Dunne.

A trial at Snaresbrook Crown Court heard the gang snatched their terrified victim outside Maryland railway station… Gang members took her to an alley off Waddington Street, Stratford, where her jeans, T-shirt and knickers were slashed from her body.

The girl was whipped with belts before Austin arrived and snapped the traumatised victim on her mobile phone before texting the pictures. They fled the alleyway, leaving the injured girl to wander naked through the streets.

Jurors were shown photos of the girl’s injuries… Prosecutor Dunne said: “They clearly show you the indentations of the buckle or motif that was on the belt.”
