Paddlings in Oklahoma
Interesting contributions on 19 April to a discussion entitled “Corporal punishment in schools….” on a horse riding forum, from a poster named Jolene Ward. First:
I’m for paddling and I don’t think it’s emotionally scared me. There was certain teachers that once they gave me a whippin I never screwed up in their class again. EVER!!!!! There was others that it was worth it!! LOL
And then she added:
The rule when I grew up. If you get a paddling at school then you’re getting your butt beat when you get home. I went to a country school that only went to the 8th grade. My principal drove the bus. We had a long drive like 1/2 mile and I walked from where the bus let me out. When I was in trouble he drove right up to the house in the bus. He got out told my mom or dad what I had done. Of course he would tell me when I got on the bus – you know I’m going to have to talk to your folks!! Then it became the bus ride from hell just waiting on the worst to happen. Let me tell ya – it was always a long time before I screwed up again!!!
